What's LOVE got to do with it?

I love your sweater. I love chocolate candy. I love my husband and the kids. Love is love?

LOVE has lost it's meaning in today's society.

I grew up with the children's church songs about "Jesus loves me" and "Jesus loves the little children." Sadly, I don't believe those songs convey the same message they once did because of the confusing media message of today that says Love is Love. The Bible says: God is LOVE. But what does that mean? To understand, we must understand the Holy character of God found in the Bible:

1 Cor. 4 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8a Love never fails."

The same Holy God described above demands respect, and does not tolerate evil. He told the Israelites as long as they followed His laws they would be blest, but stop obeying and there were consequences.

Deut. 30:19 NIV

"This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live."

God is patient and kind, but he has a limit. Believers need to know and convey the message that the Jesus who will return is coming for a Holy people and coming to destroy the works of evil.

If we are with Jesus, we are at war with the world. We need to be prepared by knowing the doing the Word of God.

Eph. 6:17

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”
