Litmus test-the Word

When I studied science in school we learned about the litmus test. We took a chemically treated piece of paper and put it in a liquid. The paper would change color so we could determine properties of the liquid. You can see this demonstrated at swimming pools when they are trying to decide how much chlorine is just the right balance. The "litmus test" can also mean a way of determining whether or not valid or true.

The Bible has some litmus tests.

'This is a simple test. If a man claims to be a prophet speaking in God's name, God's people should prove the veracity of the man's predictions. If his prophecies do not come true, it is obvious that God is not speaking to him or through him. Such a man is a false prophet. We should neither fear his words nor feel compelled to obey them.'

'Even if the man's prophecies do come to pass, we must beware. God warns us, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (I John 4:1). We need to be watching for the fruits of God's Spirit in those who would claim to be His representatives.'

I watch videos of many people claiming to "share a Word from the Lord." If they spend too much time trying to convince me and they ask me to pray before listening to them I start to doubt their words before they finally get to the point. In the Bible when a prophet spoke he spoke to nations and sometimes to kings. The prophets were not vauge in what they said either. The message was often get right with God or suffer the consequences.

So who do I like? I like the ones who share their personal walk and it lines up with God's written Word, the Bible. My current favorite is a guy on Facebook named Eli Yoder. Eli is funny and sincere. Eli is a truck driver who shares his testimony and interviews other believers who want to share what God has done in their lives. Eli came out of the bondage of Amish religious rules. He is clear with a message of salvation and trying to help others see the truth of salvation in Jesus. "For by grace are we saved not by works lest any man should boast."

Final thought: I wrote this because we are bombarded with false messages and now are being scared by the media regarding AI. They telling us we cannot even know if the person speaking is real or AI. Believers need only to go back to the Word to get their Peace. There were false prophets then and more now. But line up with the Word and you won't be deceived.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.Not as the world gives do I give to you.Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid(John 14:27).
